eBlueprint

New offices and benefits, but the same high-quality service

Advancing the technology

Industry-leading methods save customers time and expense

Electronic blueprinting is a new concept for an industry routinely mired in paper and conventional processes. eBlueprint, with offices throughout Northeast Ohio and Denver, CO, offers a cutting-edge alternative to antiquated methods that saves considerable timeand money.

eBlueprint's automated, online process for reproducing the massive amount of documents used in the construction industry by architects, contractors, engineers, builders and developers encompasses CAD drawings, specifications, and contracts. In turn, this process, and the people of eBlueprint who stand behind it, have fundamentally changed the way end-users procure A/E/C print services. It's no surprise then, that, since its inception in 1972, eBlueprint's innovative techniques and "clients-first" service culture have helped the company capture and retain business from leading companies and organizations throughout Northeast Ohio such as Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals of Cleveland and Case Western Reserve University.

Covers all bases

The process starts with My eBlue, eBlueprint's online planroom, which enables registered users to quickly and easily manage all facets of their reprographics projects. My eBlue provides total visibility and enables collaboration in real time. It also provides optimal security against outside exposure for all sensitive documents, intellectual property and trade secrets. Whether it's creating a new project, distributing drawings for an existing project, ordering hard-copy prints, searching for delivery slips or even ordering supplies, My eBlue is designed for easy navigation and total functionality. With My eBlue, customers can eliminate communication breakdowns, eradicate cost overruns, and remove errors and omissions.

My eBlue is actually a web portal and software-based production workflow, fused into a Microsoft eEnterprise accounting system. This platform uses a custom software solution, linked with 12 additional software applications, eight databases, and 10 outside vendors-data swap connections, with partners such as FedEx. The end result is a fluid, paperless print shop environment.

A typical process begins when an eBlueprint client electronically uploads drawings or specs to the eBlueprint website, www.eblueprint.com, along with a transmittal for where and when the documents are to be delivered or shipped. Documents are then downloaded directly to a plotter or printer and reproduced according to the instructions placed online. Simultaneously, mailing and/or shipping labels are printed by the system, complete with bar codes, which are scanned by hand-held wireless devices used by eBlueprint's drivers.

Clients then use a stylus to sign for the delivery, which is linked directly to the driver's wireless device. Once the driver syncs the device with the company database, images of all signatures can be viewed online, along with time of delivery. Out-of-town shipments are sent directly from eBlueprint's printing center and delivered through a partnership with FedEx, also using the electronic document management system.

Upon completion of the printing and shipping process, all documents are catalogued and stored, at no cost, in eBlueprint's online database. Clients can download or review archived drawings and documents at any time.

eBlueprint's platform controls a centralized database used for processing orders, storing documents, and electronic accounting. The database is also used for operating high volume printers and plotters and helping to mitigate errors and increase the stream of production. In addition to document production and storage, eBlueprint also provides customers with a variety of supplies and equipment, such as large-format printers and document storage equipment.

Bid process management

eBlueprint also offers customers unique advantages through eBidTools, an online bid platform that gives project managers total control over each stage of the bidding process. With eBidTools, users can invite multiple contractors to bid on projects via e-mail and/or fax, create customized bid invitations, monitor bid responses, and manage the entire process in a secure, password-protected online environment.

eBlueprint was founded in 1972 as a family owned and operated company. While it has grown through the years to include offices throughout Northeast Ohio and Colorado, the company remains committed to providing the same kind of hands-on, personalized service and support that customers have come to know and expect. That commitment has led eBlueprint to consistent revenue growth, from $7.8 million in 2003 to $11.4 million in 2006.

In 2007, eBlueprint continued to expand the size of its workforce significantly. Additionally, the company relocated its corporate headquarters to 20,000 square feet of open office and production space on Carnegie Avenue in downtown Cleveland. Collectively, these moves enable eBlueprint to strengthen its market leadership and reinforce its unique customer service culture. BXM
